Electroacupuncture and Laser Acupuncture

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture is a method used in acupuncture in which the acupuncture needles are stimulated with a gentle electrical impulse with devices such as Pantheon machine or Pointer Plus. The consistent stimulation increases the electricity instead of manual stimulation. It has been proven that alternatively stimulating acupoints have an increased effect as manual stimulation and can be effective in neurological conditions and pain management.

Electroacupuncture can treat different types of acute and chronic pain, such as fibromyalgia, nerve pain due to a bulging disc, sports injury and, postoperative pain management. It can also be used to assist in the recovery of t neurological conditions like Bell’s Palsy or neurological deficits that can result from a stroke. Another advantage of electroacupuncture is the ability to stimulate more than one acupoint at a time and for a longer duration if necessary.

Laser Acupuncture

Laser acupuncture is a phototherapy modality that stimulates specific acupoints with cold laser beams instead of a filament needle with devices such as the AVANT laser.  Laser acupuncture is a great alternative for patients who are averse to acupuncture or needles.

Laser acupuncture mainly deals with pain relief and stimulating the immune system. It has been proven to be effective in treating lumbar disc issues, knee osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and migraine headaches among others.
